Replica Factory QA Overview – Two-Tone Black Dial Diamond Marker Build
Factory QA Overview – Two-Tone Black Dial Diamond Marker Build
During the QA stage of this build, we focus on three major components: the dial finish, the case-to-bezel alignment, and the bracelet articulation. This black dial version tends to reveal more imperfections than lighter colors, so each unit undergoes a closer surface check under mixed lighting. The diamond-set hour markers must sit evenly across the dial; if the baseplates shift even slightly during installation, the reflections fall out of rhythm and the dial loses uniformity. This is why we measure each setting height before casing the movement.
The fluted bezel is machined from gold-tone alloy with a multi-step cutting process. The ridges require consistent depth, otherwise the reflections break unpredictably. We inspect the bezel under both static light and moving light because differences only appear when the watch is rotated. The transition between polished steel lugs and the two-tone bracelet is another area we evaluate carefully. If the end links aren’t milled precisely, they create gaps or an uneven fit that can be felt immediately when the bracelet flexes.
The date magnification is checked through a calibrated acrylic grid. We evaluate disc alignment from three angles rather than one, because black dials exaggerate misalignment when viewed from the side. The sapphire crystal’s underside AR layer is inspected for clarity to ensure the magnifier doesn’t develop a blue tint under oblique lighting—an issue seen in earlier builds across the industry.
Inside, the 3235-style movement is tested with a three-position timing check to confirm amplitude stability. These movements aren’t regulated to chronometer precision, but we expect them to deliver consistent performance for daily wear. We also stress-test the rotor track for noise; any rattling indicates insufficient lubrication or bearing inconsistency and the unit is pulled for adjustment.
The Jubilee-style bracelet undergoes articulation testing to ensure smooth curvature. We check the center gold-tone links for uniform color and verify the brushing on outer links remains consistent across segments. The clasp tension is measured to prevent either excessive tightness or premature loosening after short-term wear.
This piece passes QA when all mechanical functions operate smoothly and the visual elements maintain uniformity under varying lighting and wrist angles. The black dial, gold markers, and two-tone bracelet create a configuration that requires stricter standards, and the QA process reflects that.
